WRITING AND DESIGN VACANCIES
WRITER POSITION
INTERIOR/NIGHT is looking for a writer based in the UK to join our narrative team and help craft our next adventure. We’re looking for someone who can write emotional, engaging dialogue; who can build exciting quests; and who has a knack for strong characters and compelling narrative.
About the Job
We’re working on a narrative-heavy game that focuses on a branching storyline and character relationships.
In this role, you’ll need to:
· Write realistic, engaging branching dialogue that offers players interesting choices and unexpected twists, sometimes to strict deadlines.
· Develop distinctive, interesting voices and personalities for the characters you work on, but also write in voices and styles developed by other members of the team.
· Implement the dialogue you write in our technical tool.
· Test and troubleshoot your own work to make sure the writing and technical implementation are both high quality.
· Give and take feedback on your work and edit as appropriate.
· Iterate on existing quest design, expanding and improving on the designs as needed.
· Work closely with other departments to craft the scenes you work on, iterating on the gameplay and cinematics.
This is a full-time role, for a one year contract initially, for a UK-based candidate.
Our studio is based in London, but remote working within the UK is available.
About You
We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about telling stories first and foremost, but successful applicants will need the following:
· Proven experience writing branching dialogue for games and ability to craft meaningful choices.
· Strong writing ability, especially when writing dialogue.
· Experience working with writing tools and pipelines to craft narrative content.
· Worked as a writer on at least one shipped game (not self-published), but preferably more than one.
· Have 5+ years’ experience in the games industry (related fields may also be acceptable).
· Strong editing and proofreading skills are a must.
· Strong communication skills.
· Native speaker-level English.
· Based in and right to work in the UK.
Ideally, you would also have:
· Worked on an RPG before.
· Experience with Yarn Spinner or similar tools.
· Experience working with Unreal.
· Familiarity with Jira.
